Administration

Dear Parents and Guardians,

FROM THE
PRINCIPAL

We are excited about the 2007-08 school year. In order for our students to get the full benefits of the intense academic focus that teachers will be giving during this year, our classrooms, hallways, buses, etc. must be void of behavioral disruptions. Therefore, disruptions such as excessive talking, non-compliance, physical aggression, horse-playing, rough housing, tardiness, disrespect (towards teachers, substitute teachers and students) will not be tolerated.

At the beginning of the school year, every student is given a copy of the Wake County Student Handbook that outlines the policies and guidelines governing student’s behavior. For your convenience we have identified some of the things that we would like for you to review with your children. Reviewing this list will help us provide for our students an environment that is positive, productive and safe. WFRMS students are expected to:

Be on time for all classes

The time that is allotted between classes is not a social time. It should be used to return materials to or remove materials from lockers. This time may also be used for taking a short restroom break.

Exhibit responsibility and a sense of accountability

Being prepared for every class is a must. Students should always bring paper, pencils, pens, notebook, etc to class. This will enable teachers/students to use all instructional time effectively.

Show respect towards teachers

Respecting adults that are in positions of authority is a critical expectation. Adults are responsible for managing all aspects of the classroom and education community. Therefore, all students must be willing to follow all directives that are given by their teacher and other adults. Excessive talking, using foul language, talking out of turn, screaming, non-compliance, etc., will not be tolerated.

Show respect towards fellow students.

Students should treat others the way they would like to be treated. Mistreating other students, bullying other students, instigating fights between other students, taking another students’ personal belongings, etc., does not promote a positive learning environment. These things are disruptive and will be handled on a suspension level.

Follow all rules outlined in the WCPSS Student Code of Conduct

Wearing revealing clothing, sagging pants, hats, gang paraphernalia, etc., are violations of the WCPSS dress code policies. They are major distractions in the classroom. Turn off cell phone and keep them out of sight upon arrival on campus. Using a cell phone during school hours is prohibited. Cell phones that are seen during the school day may be taken for security purposes. When cell phones are taken, parents may pick them up at the end of the day. It is important that all students remain on campus throughout the school day. Skipping school is a violation, and it makes it impossible for us to maintain their safety.

At WFRMS we are enforcing rules in order to create a “winning” environment for your child. By eliminating the things that distract our students’ focus during the school day, we will be able to help them maximize their potential. Together we will reaffirm that education matters and builds a future of success and well-being.

Thank you for reviewing this information with your child and thank you for your support. Together we are on a winning team. Please do not hesitate to contact me at 919-554-8446 if you have any questions or concerns.
