Michael Meyer 8th Grade Counselor

Rising 9th grade scheduling has begun. We appreciate your patience as we must register our students at many different high schools with different requirements and courses. We are first registering at our 3 biggest schools: WF-RHS, Wakefield, and Knightdale. All other high schools and magnet schools will be registered soon. If accepted into a magnet school and you plan to attend this magnet school, e-mail Mr. Meyer at mmeyer1@wcpss.net  and let him know.

Students started rough drafts of their base high school schedules this past week. Please look them over and sign when completed and approved by you. The signed paper copy should be turned in to:

1) Ms. George-Quasars

2) Ms. Johnson- Hurricanes

3) Ms. Eberhard - Titans

Parents or guardians must sign the paper copy before we can allow your child to register on the computers. Your signature indicates your approval of the schedule.

If you want to see copies of the course lists for your high school, go to our school website http://wfrms.wcpss.net  and click the link at the top regarding 9th Grade Registration - there is a large amount of information on the entire 9 th grade registration process there. The Planning Guide option has a description of all courses. PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL COURSES ARE CHOSEN FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL 9th GRADE COURSE SHEET! There are courses listed in the planning guide and various other places that may not be open to 9th graders. You must choose from the 9th Grade Course Sheet to ensure the course is open to freshmen.

Students should also list 3 alternative electives in the bottom 3 spaces of the paper copy they were given.  Since freshmen are scheduled last, you may not get into a class you want the first year. Choose your alternates wisely because there is a good chance you will get at least one of them.

If you need a new blank copy of the paper to put your schedule on, please find one on page 7 of the planning guide (available on our on-line registration link)
